Windows Media Player doesn't show videos

 

If you are running XP and Norton Internet Security 2004(NIS):
Ad Blocking now / Configure / Advanced.
Click on msn.com in the window that appears.
On the right you will see Permit gamhdl under Ad Blocking.
Click on Add... (not Add Site)
The Add new HTML string window should appear.
Click on Permit  in the 'add new html string' window and then type ad
OK button
Go to Global Settings and make sure msn.com is highlighted.
'Information about visited sites' - uncheck Use Default settings.
'Information about visited sites' - click on 'permit'.
OK to close the 'advanced' window.
OK to close the 'Ad Block' window.
Close the NIS window.

Delete IE cookies and cache.  Go to www.msn.com and click on the video news link.


Cannot Display Web Pages with Norton Internet Securities 2000

After installing Norton Internet Security (NIS) 3.0 on a Windows 2000 machine, whenever you try to open your browser, your computer may flash an error message about an unexpected kernel mode trap and the computer restarts.  The "fix", if you can call it that, is to uninstall NIS.


Internet Explorer 5.x may not display any web pages.  Task Manager will show IE is 'not responding'. The "fix, if you can call it that, is to uninstall NIS.


Email messages list the sender as 'unknown' or do not list a sender

When you send an email using Hotmail or an MSN email account the email arrives with no information about the sender (no user name or user name is unknown.  For instructions on how to work around the problem, check out this URL ("To resolve the problem, configure NIS or NPF to allow the cookie and browser referrer information for MSN.com and Hotmail.com")
